My tech just finished installing the new pickup in my 2015 Les Paul traditional.
Original pickups were thin and trebly. The new 66er is better balanced with sweet bass response. Best neck pickup I’ve had in any of my guitars so far.
I had bought a HILS Next N3 headless guitar as a travel/practice/spare guitar. The fret ends needed attention and I didn’t like the high-output, ceramic pickups. I play guitar in a jazz big band and I only really use the neck pickup so, I ordered a Smokey Nights Jazz Humbucker. I took it into a local guitar store to have it installed and when the fellow returned the guitar to me he said, “That is a nice sounding pickup.” I have played the guitar at home but last night I took it to band practice where I plugged it directly into my Quilter Aviator Cub amp (Fender style amp). I started with the “tweed” input but later switched to the “black” input. The Smokey Nights sounded great. It is very clean, clear, quiet and to my ear there is clear separation between the strings. Our piano player commented on how good the pickup sounded. I have an original Kent Armstrong/Benedetto B6 humbucker (i.e. not a Seymour Duncan B6)on my other guitar (a T-style thinline) and I like the Smokey Nights better. By comparison the B6 can be a little dense and lacks the bell like quality that I hear in the Smokey Nights. I love the Smokey Nights humbucker and I think I may change the B6 for one of the other Pegcity pickups. Thank you Kris.
I bought these p90 covers for my player mustang 90 and they look fantastic. I specifically wanted white covers and couldn't find them everywhere else, so I was happy to find them here, especially through a Canadian company! Thank you so much!
Kris promptly answered all of my questions and added nickel covers at my request. The payment process was super easy and my pickups were sent out quickly. They arrived in a solid box with lots of foam padding. Pickups look great. They’re not installed yet so I can’t comment just yet about the tone. Will do that when I’ve tried them out!
