I purchased 2 Pegcity P90's for my Jazzmaster, both with alnico 2's. They have exceeded my expectations in every way. The expressiveness of the pickups is apparent - they jump to life and push out a sound that grabs hold of you and doesn't let go until you put down the guitar.
I could not be any happier with these pickups. I would absolutely recommend them!
I’ve just put in the soap bar P90s that I ordered and could not be happier. I’ve played on them for a week and love the sound. A huge upgrade from the stock ones. I chose traditional winding on both neck and bridge with Alnico 3 magnets.
I find them sensitive to height adjustments and have spent some time dialing them in. An obviously well made pickup with great packaging and documentation.
Again, I am very pleased.
Thank you Kris and Pegcity!
Best p ups ever!!!!!
Very happy with these. Beautiful clean tone for playing that twangy stuff.
I've tried a few of the pickups Kris makes, and I'm always blown away by them, but the Private Stock might just be my new favourite. They're incredibly balanced, warm, but clearly articulated. The lows never get muddy, the highs never get too sharp, and the mids manage to cut through it all and shine like I've never heard from any other pickup. I'll definitely use these pickups again on future builds.
This is my 3rd Pegcity Pickup this year alone (others are their dogear P90, & Ec-401 esquire), & i highly recommend them as a pickup brand. Kris delivers excellent products, & above all a customer service.
His P-bass pickup is what i've heard in countless songs, & other vintage 50s, 60s, 70s pbasses i've had the chance to play from friends, & in my repair service center. This set is in my main parts pbass, after years of working with a duncan Hot pbass, which replaced their 1/4 pounders (both of which were too hot for my growth in music. The 1/4 overloaded my signal, & the hot had choked mids), the Pegcity pbass pickup goes anywhere a session bassist needs going. Reggae, pop, funk, metal, jazz, punk, etc. Its got you covered! A pickup that lets YOU, the player, do the talking. It can be as smooth or as aggressive as you want/need it in different approaches (pick, fingerstyle, slap/pop).
To me Pegcity Pickups deliver all the tone i'm looking for, at a great price, & as a fellow Canadian, i'm proud to support em :)
I recently ordered and installed a set of Classic 59's in my Les Paul and I'm glad I did! Such an improvement from the Burstbucker Pros that were in there. The Classic 59's sound much more open and alive and have really elevated my guitar to another level and they look great too! The customer service and ordering process also exceeded my expectations. I will definitely recommend Pegcity to anyone looking for aftermarket pickups!
I'm extremely happy with my TC-204 Telecaster pickups from PegCity and Kris's top notch customer service!
Could not be happier with this 2 Stroke bridge pickup I just installed.
Extremely balanced, articulate, wildly versatile.
Soaks up gain and never gets muddy, and cleans up wonderfully.
Another excellent product from Kris and Peg City.
Great balance as a set, Neck gets that thick single note sound just right, and the bridge gives a great bite. Low enough output to not cause digital pedals any problems, and nice articulation even under higher gain. Great clean up with the volume pot as well.
I've had these installed for almost a year now and couldn't be happier with my tone. My project instrument finally feels complete after this last piece of the puzzle.
I did a total conversion on my old Ibanez swapping out the active 3 band EQ and stock pickup's for this set and passive electronics. Wow! My bass has that classic fender voicing but plays like an Ibanez.
Kris was very patient and helpful with my inquiries and even with making-to-order (around Christmas even) had them ready to go very quick.
My only regret is that I didn't leave a review sooner.
Reached out to peg city pickups for some advice on a recent tele style build I finished. Recommended the EC-341 and a vintage wound p90 for the neck. Super happy with the build quality and sound is amazing. They do exactly what he said they would. Super happy, will be ordering for the next build soon.
I really like the way this pickup has warmed up my sound. It does everything you expect a P90 to do but with clearer, warmer lows. Pegcity has a lot of information on their website about how they can help you find the sound you want. They give you lots of options for winding and magnets. The pickup comes nicely boxed with test specs and a very cool little jazz pick that’s my new favourite.
After installing my EC-431 in my esquire & loving the results, I wanted to replace a decent sounding Alnico 5 magnet, kinda vintage wound roughly 7.6k output dog ear p90 pickup in my double cut Jr style guitar. That A5 pickup was alright, but seemed to lack the p90 tone i've heard on countless punk records. Speaking with Kris about what i was looking for, & i had hit the nail directly. Alnico 3 magnet, with a 5% overwind, & man does it sound killer! Crisp, vintage & aggressive when needed. Rolling the volume sounds sweet, & there's a bouncing clarity to it through my high gain modded 5150 amp. Pegcity hit the ball out of the park, & i couldn't be happier of the home run outcome. Fast becoming a fan of this work, I'm sure i'll get something else to try in a guitar that's missing something hahaha. Pegcity rules!
I picked up the SMB-1 a few months back for a Telecaster project, and I gotta say, I'm super stoked about it. I put the SMB-1 on the neck and paired it with a Fender American Vintage '62 Custom in the bridge, and man, it sounds like magic!
I used to mainly stick with my regular Tele's bridge pickup, but with this new setup, everything's changed. It's perfect for those clean, crisp tones, as well as when you wanna crank it up with some sweet overdrive. I seriously can't recommend this pickup enough. It's a game-changer!
Coli split or Partial split and which one to use.
Due to the demand for tonal flexibility. Wiring humbuckers to split the coils in an attempt to achieve a single coil tone has become the standard. The truth is a humbucker with lower output (below 10.0k) when split can produce a weaker sound thats lower in volume. We highly recommend adding a 7.5k resistor into the circuit inline with the wire that links the splitting pot to the ground. This will allow some of the signal from the split coil to leak through boosting the overall signal just enough. The partial split will result in a very comparative single coil tone that retains its volume and presence. We recommend this mod for any of the humbuckers in our lineup that are below 10k. Look for it in the options list when you are making your choice on humbucker pickups.
Our humbuckers that we recommend this mod for are Private Stock, Smokey Nights jazz bucker,Classic 59's, 66'ers, True North PAF, mini humbuckers and firebird pickups.
We can also sell these resistors separately if you want to add them to an existing set you have.
