"Find Your Tone" with Pegcity Pickups.
I’ve had the Middle Texas Triple Strat pup installed into my Tele for about a month now, and I continue to be impressed with Kris’ excellent work! Its tone easily compares with Fender’s Custom Shop pups, and Kris’ service and communication in helping me narrow down which one would fit best in my rig AND reversing my neck pup’s polarity for free, was stellar. Five stars for sure and I’ll definitely be buying more in the future! Highly recommend!
Loved what they did to my guitar. Put them on a ephiphone les paul custom, with a push pull coil tap on the bridge. Was a jimmy page kit. As much as i love my strat this little gem kinda blows my mind. Pickups are so quite, clean and responsive. Txs again. Happy customer.
Your Pegcity P90 has delivered the clean sound I wanted on my bridge. Particularly crisp and the bass strings...thanks
thank you so much
(Put in a poplar strat with non fine tuner floyd and Suhr wiring, so treble bleed circuit and singles sees 250k and humbucker sees 500k)
Wow!! So much bang for the bucks!! Put this in a guitar and you'll get so much versatility. Sound is tight and focused. Such a wide spectrum of usage of the volume knob. Palm mute sound good on all strings. Full volume, the humbucker as huge sustain and thrills are effortless as if there was a welcomed compression. Take back the volume a little and you get great dynamics. You can easily get a rhythm and lead push just playing with the volume. And what great guidance from Kris. Used to be a Seymour and Dimarzio guy, but now I'm Pegcity
I got these pickups for a project I was working on and it turned out great!
I’m not really sure what to say, other than I am floored by these pickups.
I installed the standard Alnico 5 set of Supernovas in my LTD mh-1000, and I haven’t put it down since.
Very balanced, open, and clear, with a tight bottom end and just the right amount of top end bite.
Extremely versatile pickups, from blues to metal no problem.
For riffs you get a ballsy midrange growl, and they chug no problem. Bottom end is nice and chunky, but not boomy at all.
For chords you get crystal clear note separation, everything is defined and rings out wonderfully.
For lead work you get that midrange coming through again, so vocal and dynamic, it just sings.
And the neck pickup might have the prettiest cleans I’ve ever heard, honestly.
I couldn’t be happier with this set, I’ll likely be ordering another for a different guitar!
Dealing with Kris was awesome, he knows his stuff that’s for sure, and communicating with him was helpful and painless.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would.
I bought these for a ’S’ type project I’m working on - but, in the meantime, I threw them in to my $100 squire and wow! It’s a whole new machine of glory! Sweet!
These pickups rip. The black chrome covers I added look awesome. The sounds are great. The smoothness of the neck maintains great articulation and the neck snarls and howls beautifully. The only gripe I have is incredibly minor, but I wish the pickup mounting screws had been black since I ordered black hardware. The screw shaft is smaller than the Duncan’s the Angry Widows replaced, so I could not use the original mounting screws. I thought it was worth mentioning but these are a five star product regardless
I should preface by saying that I’ve installed many of the “boutique” brands of pups in my guitars, over the past 30+ years. As a born and raised ‘Pegger, now living out west, I was excited to find a pickup builder in my hometown. After about a year or so of following Pegcity on their Facebook page, I decided it was time to put a set in an old Tele of mine. I really wanted these to sound great. I wanted to be able to boast about them. I wanted to be hometown proud. Well, they did NOT disappoint. In fact, the TC-204 set that I dropped into my Tele are right up there with the best pups I’ve ever owned, maybe better. These are no joke, serious quality kit. I ordered them with the 3-wire option for 4-way switching and installed them with an Obsidian wire 4-way harness. The result is pure bliss. I am blown away at how dynamic these pickups are. They have the perfect amount of bite in the bridge and a nice, fat, punchy neck. These pickups should be in every build conversation. Do all of yourselves a favour and get some Pegcity Pickups.
These P90s are exactly the pipes my guitar wanted. The 5% overwind worked as intended: they are full and throaty with a woody snap. Superb.
If you're looking at a standard pickup, like a P, once you hit a certain level of build quality I don't think you can say one is better or worse than another, just different flavours. What I will say is that the last two pickups that lived in my main bass have been a Fralin and an Aguilar, and I can say that the Pegcity is easily on their level.
Where this pickup really stands out for me is it's dynamics. It is crazy responsive to your playing to the point that I have to be more mindful. Where the Aguilar pickup would smooth things over and I could get away being a bit sloppy at times, the Pegcity reveals my flaws and forces me to tighten up a bit. Again - this isn't a pro or a con, it's just different.
At the end of the day, this is a high quality P-bass pickup that is going to do what you want it to. From Motown thump to grindy punk, it gives you enough to work with that you can dial in whatever you want.
Combine all that with a fair price for a pickup from a Canadian builder, and this is a solid win for me. I'm very happy to have this in my bass and look forward to seeing what else Pegcity has to offer!
J'aime l'idée que le pickup est fait à la main et au Canada, ça lui donne un côté unique. Ce P90 a tout un twang qui lui donne un son vintage que je recherchais. Je recommande ce pickup!
Knowing Chris’s passion for excellence, my expectations were high, but these pup’s surpassed all expectations! As a guitar builder of many years, and a bass player for 22 years I have worked on and played many basses. I favour the more vintage sounds. I asked Chris’s advice on a good set for my 24 fret P/J guitar, keeping my bias for vintage tone.
These were beyond my wildest expectations! I could live with the P bass pickup alone. The J bass in the bridge gives an additional ‘spice cabinet’ !
My bass will now, easily create all the tones I like to use and gives me some new sonic territory to explore!
It pleases me to know that these are made in Canada and are premium quality at a comparatively bargain price for hand wounds! Thank you Chris!
Love the shirt, love Kris and his craftsmanship more !!!
