This is my 3rd order from Pegcity pickups. I installed these True North’s in a PRS se 245 single cut. I was looking for a tone to compliment my Les Paul with PAF’s for recording. I love the tone of these pickups. What a terrific upgrade. The stock pickups used cheap materials so I really appreciate the build quality of the True North’s.
Fantastic, combined with a set of La Bella flatwounds.... what a tone!
Service was great. These pickups have elevated the sound of my roadworn J bass beyond what I imagined. Plus they look very creamy:)
I just picked up a 1986 contemporary strat and put these in the neck and middle positions. They sound fantastic! Huge improvement over the ceramic pickups in it originally! Very pleased with the result.
I spent the better part of three years trying to find the voice of my Strat. During that time I tried different pickup configurations, different electronics, and spent countless hours reading forums, watching demos, and comparing brands.
What finally convinced me to order from Pegcity wasn't the promise of some magical pickup, it was being able to have an honest conversation with Kris about what I was actually trying to achieve.
I ended up with a set of Private Stock A4 humbuckers wired for a 5-way switch with coil splits. When I first plugged the guitar in, my reaction wasn't "wow, these pickups changed everything." It was something much better: the guitar finally sounded and responded the way I'd been hoping it would all along.
The neck is clear without being muddy, the bridge has plenty of bite without getting boomy, and the split positions are genuinely useful instead of feeling like gimmicks. The guitar still sounds like a Strat, just one that suits the way I play.
What surprised me most is that these pickups don't have a huge personality of their own. They let the guitar be a Strat. They let my amp sound like my amp. They let my playing come through. After years of chasing specs, magnets, and marketing, that turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.
Could I have arrived somewhere similar with another quality pickup from DiMarzio or Seymour Duncan? Maybe. There are a lot of great pickups available today. The difference for me was being able to work with someone who listened, answered my questions, and built a set around the instrument I wanted instead of simply selling me a product.
For the first time since owning this Strat, it finally feels like *my* guitar. That's about the highest compliment I can give.
Kris and I decided on the Private Stock bridge pickup for a custom built guitar from luthier Steve J. Mash. Sort of a Melody Maker shape with a 25" scale, humbucker in bridge, tulipwood body, maple neck. The Private Stock bridge is a very versatile, dynamic pickup usable in a range of styles. Chose a black uncovered pickup, I'm most pleased with its versatility.
This is paired with a custom neck pickup, a unique design from Pegcity. To match the timbre, no hum, and power of the bridge, Kris built a stacked magnet single-coil sized design for this position. So, it's noiseless and pairs super well with bridge.
A great solution and a wide range of sounds available c/o a basic 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3-way switch.
Just installed a set of Classic 59’s into an Epiphone Sheraton ii. What an upgrade! These pickups look and sound incredible! When chording there is remarkable note clarity across all the strings and single notes sing and cut through the mix. They are also very pick sensitive and clean up nicely when the volume is rolled back. I’ve always liked this guitar but now I love it, it just sounds huge! Thanks Kris! Great communication, easy to order, amazing build quality and fast shipping! I feel like I will be ordering a Peg City strat set in the future!
I recently added a Fatboy Special neck pickup to one of my main guitars, and was blown away by its clarity and silky smooth sound. On high gain its crystal clear and articulate, on clean it has a beautiful presence and projection. Highly suggested to anyone who values a well rounded, clean neck tone!
I've been playing guitar for 30yrs. Playing heavy metal for over 20yrs and I can honestly say I have never felt such a substantial difference in a pick up swap......until I installed a set of Widows. I replaced an EMG 81/85 set with Angry Widows and was instantly blown away by how organic, articulate and more defined my tone was. So then I swapped out a Seymour Duncan Full Shred and JB set for some Angry Widows and it was the same result, my tone took a step in the direction I wanted, but the EMGs and Duncan's just continually fell short no matter what combination. The support, sales and relationship I now have with Peg City is something you just can't get with big manufacturers. Don't think twice, you might miss out on your perfect tone
The Classic 59’s were an excellent set of pickups for my Les Paul kit build. They sound great! You get all of the tones and responsiveness you would expect from PAF. Highly recommend if you are looking to get that classic PAF sound without breaking the bank. I can't wait to start my next Pegcity pickup powered project!
