I've put Pegcity Pickups into at least a dozen guitars for clients and myself, and I've never been disappointed. This time I wanted to bump up the tone on a couple of "budget" imports that I LOVE playing, but which needed a little help in the electronics. On one I added the Texas Triple Stack singles in the bridge and middle positions (and upgraded to 250K pots), and the difference was like night and day. A completely new guitar.
On the other; one of my absolute favourites; we opted for the Texan HSS set. That's a Superclutch bridge with the two Texas Triple Stack singles in the middle and neck. Again, a complete transformation. For a guitar that retails for a couple hundred dollars, it's now playing like fully pro-grade instrument, easily taking its place alongside my own custom Strat. Adding in the 250K pots again and upgrading to a Freeway switch, plus having that coil split Superclutch in the bridge, makes this a super versatile instrument.
In both guitars, the singles are crisp and clean, well-balanced, and incredibly responsive. And they're also dead quiet, which was a nice added surprise. The Superclutch has always been my absolute favourite humbucker for its output, balance, clarity, and versatility. I'd give this set 10/5 stars if I could.
I ONLY recommend Pegcity Pickups to my clients, and I'm always looking for ways to get them into my own guitars in between projects. You can't get a better pickup. Simple as that.
