Kris and I decided on the Private Stock bridge pickup for a custom built guitar from luthier Steve J. Mash. Sort of a Melody Maker shape with a 25" scale, humbucker in bridge, tulipwood body, maple neck. The Private Stock bridge is a very versatile, dynamic pickup usable in a range of styles. Chose a black uncovered pickup, I'm most pleased with its versatility.
This is paired with a custom neck pickup, a unique design from Pegcity. To match the timbre, no hum, and power of the bridge, Kris built a stacked magnet single-coil sized design for this position. So, it's noiseless and pairs super well with bridge.
A great solution and a wide range of sounds available c/o a basic 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3-way switch.
Just installed a set of Classic 59’s into an Epiphone Sheraton ii. What an upgrade! These pickups look and sound incredible! When chording there is remarkable note clarity across all the strings and single notes sing and cut through the mix. They are also very pick sensitive and clean up nicely when the volume is rolled back. I’ve always liked this guitar but now I love it, it just sounds huge! Thanks Kris! Great communication, easy to order, amazing build quality and fast shipping! I feel like I will be ordering a Peg City strat set in the future!
I recently added a Fatboy Special neck pickup to one of my main guitars, and was blown away by its clarity and silky smooth sound. On high gain its crystal clear and articulate, on clean it has a beautiful presence and projection. Highly suggested to anyone who values a well rounded, clean neck tone!
I've been playing guitar for 30yrs. Playing heavy metal for over 20yrs and I can honestly say I have never felt such a substantial difference in a pick up swap......until I installed a set of Widows. I replaced an EMG 81/85 set with Angry Widows and was instantly blown away by how organic, articulate and more defined my tone was. So then I swapped out a Seymour Duncan Full Shred and JB set for some Angry Widows and it was the same result, my tone took a step in the direction I wanted, but the EMGs and Duncan's just continually fell short no matter what combination. The support, sales and relationship I now have with Peg City is something you just can't get with big manufacturers. Don't think twice, you might miss out on your perfect tone
The Classic 59’s were an excellent set of pickups for my Les Paul kit build. They sound great! You get all of the tones and responsiveness you would expect from PAF. Highly recommend if you are looking to get that classic PAF sound without breaking the bank. I can't wait to start my next Pegcity pickup powered project!
I had built an all maple telecaster, as tribute to Prince, & it went through a few pickup combinations. Last set was too full, & not enough spank which left me uninspired to say the least. After some talk with Kris, Opted for a Neck & Middle Texas Triple Stack pickups (since i wanted the middle position on my telecaster to be hum free), & these definitely deliver the 1999 party! Super balanced tone, chime, tight lows, smooth top end, with enough bite to boot. Clean or drive, these pickups don't disappoint. Kris is the man, & when it comes to tone chasing, you're in good hands! Many thanks, it's brought life to another of my guitars, & that's amazing!
Installed these in my Squier CV Jag. The stock pickups were decent enough, but these Peg City pickups just add a bit more of everything to my tone and reduces the buzz. More noticeable tone cut using the strange switch. Very glad to find a Canadian builder for jag pickups. Definitely recommended!
I recently purchased a set of Classic 59 pickups with the A4 magnets which sounded really good but were not exactly the tone I was chasing. They sounded good enough that I was hesitant to change anything about them but finally decided to change the magnets to A2 and voila for my taste now they are perfect especially the bridge. Great pickups.
i found the pole screw heads to large. They couldn’t be lowered flush to pickup face. Well made pickup, great sounding.
I upgraded a T style guitar that had a H/S/S with a VS61 neck, and middle, and a private stock humbucking in the bridge, with a 5 way switch. I have played the guitar daily for about a week, liking it more each time I pick it up. The single coils are bright, articulate, and very vintage sounding. The 2 and 4 positions have the spongey mid scoop sound. The humbucking is awesome, a little hotter, really big sounding. The combination with the single coils is really versatile, and every pickup position sounds great. Great pickups!!! You should buy some!
